The ACT Raising Safe Kids Program is customized to the parents or the primary caregivers in Ankang Community, aiming to improve positive discipline techniques and decrease intergenerational transmission of domestic violence. The outcome of empirical research has proved this program, originally developed by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC), effective and efficient in preventing domestic violence. This program, under the concept of motivational interview, can help parents who have a lack of motivation or strong resistance to recognize how families of orientation affect themselves, and what they should work to boost emotional management skills through self-awareness.
Given that this program is currently one of the three parenting programs recommended by the International Health Organization, the positive results we have witnessed in Ankang Community can contribute to empirical research at the international level, and set an example for other disadvantaged communities at the domestic level.
